I'm Michael Aronow, and I've spent nearly 20 years teaching AP Economics.

I teach both AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics, and I've built my career around helping students not just memorize economics, but actually understand how it works—and perform at their highest level on the AP exams.

My students have achieved exceptional results: 95% pass both AP Economics exams, with an average score of 4.2, and approximately half earn a 5 each year. My AP Economics classes consistently rank among the strongest in Wisconsin.

But the thing that most distinguishes my experience is my work with the AP exam itself.

I Know the AP Microeconomics Exam From the Inside

For the past 10 years, I have served as a Question Leader for the AP Microeconomics exam.

In this role, I work with other AP educators to evaluate student responses and ensure that free-response questions are scored consistently and accurately. I've developed an unusually detailed understanding of what separates a response that earns a point from one that doesn't—and why.

That experience directly shapes the way I tutor.

I can help you understand not only what economics you need to know, but how the AP exam expects you to demonstrate that knowledge. We'll work on recognizing what a question is really asking, constructing FRQ responses that earn points, interpreting graphs and economic relationships, and approaching difficult multiple-choice questions strategically.

I've also worked with the College Board in other professional capacities related to AP Microeconomics, giving me an even deeper understanding of the curriculum and assessment process.

But Knowing the Exam Isn't Enough

A great AP tutor needs more than exam expertise.

They need to be able to teach.

That's why I bring nearly two decades of classroom experience and more than 1,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring to every student I work with.

And your learning doesn't stop when the session ends. After each lesson, I'll send you practice materials targeted to the concepts and skills we've worked on, so you can reinforce what you've learned on your own.

An Economist Who Loves Teaching Economics

My academic background is in economics, geography, and urban planning. I earned a bachelor's degree with a double major in economics and geography/urban planning and studied business location theory in graduate school.

I've led high school teams to state championships in the Economics Challenge and successfully competed in the Federal Reserve Challenge.

Many of my former students have gone on to major in economics. Some have worked for the Federal Reserve. Others have earned a Ph.D in economics and related fields.

Those accomplishments make me proud, but they're not the reason I continue teaching.

I simply love economics.

I love the moment when a student who has been struggling suddenly sees how the pieces fit together. I love taking something that initially seems abstract or confusing and making it seem intuitive. And I love helping students discover that economics isn't just a class they have to get through—it's a way of understanding the world around them.
